Financials Data Warehouse Schedule for Month-end Closing [03/26/07]
The majority of reports in eReports are now using the new Financials Data Warehouse as the source of data. The load process for the Financials Data Warehouse takes approximately five hours and can't start until the Financials system batch process is complete. On normal business days, the Financials Data Warehouse load process is expected to be completed well before 7 a.m.
On the 1st through the 5th business day, the Financials system batch process runs longer because of additional jobs associated with the month-end closing process. On these days, the Financials Data Warehouse load process may run past 7 a.m. This is especially true on the 2nd and 3rd business days. Based Financials system batch end times for the January and February close, below is our best estimate of when the previous business days' data will be available to users in eReports:
- 2nd Business Day: 8:30 a.m. (Financials data unavailable in eReports from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.)
- 3rd Business Day: 10:00 a.m. (Financials data unavailable in eReports from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.)
Users should plan their March month-end closing activities based on these estimated times. If actual availability of updated data is significantly later than the estimated times above, the Controller's Office will consider delaying March close by one business day. The Financials team is actively pursuing options for reducing the length of the Financials system batch process in order to assure that data is available at 7 a.m. on all business days.
Important notes:
- Users will be able to run Financials reports in eReports using two day old data until the Financials Data Warehouse is updated with the previous days' data. The date of the data in the Financials Data Warehouse will be communicated to users of parameterized SQR reports on the parameter page of each report.
- If the Financials Data Warehouse load process is expected to be delayed past 7 a.m., the OIT System Status Page will be updated with information on when the load process is expected to be complete.
- The Financials data will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes as the previous days' data is being made available to eReports. Reports that are run at this time will be aborted and users will be required to re-run the report once the Financials Data Warehouse is updated and available.
